hi guys!!!!!!!! today is the 3rd installment of my carhartt appreciation series. only 97 more to go!!! jk but it is quite plausible that i'll own 100 carhartt things one day lol. ANYWAY, if u wanna kill even more time on this here fashun blog, check out #1 where i style my carhartt vest & #2 where i style my carhartt overalls!
these pants are the latest addition to my carhartt collection. like the northface osito 2 in my last post, i thrifted them in portland back in april. i love the story behind them: i found them in the men's bottoms section at a buffalo exchange in hawthorne. (actually, now that i think about it, both these pants & my northface were from that buffalo exchange so that must be a great location!) these pants were for sure previously owned by a painter of some sort. u can see in the pictures above there is white paint splattered on the front & sides of them. maybe other people would be turned off by the paint but i found it so endearing!!! i thought it gave the pants character. ALSO they were my size & like i've said previously, being somewhat petite & 5"3, it's very hard to find carhartt pieces that fit me properly!
a few racks away, i miraculously found the same exact pair of pants, except a size or two bigger & the original carhartt tags were still attached. these were priced at $30 whereas the paint splattered pants in my hands were ... wait for it...... $18 !!!!!!!!!! or maybe even $15, i can't remember. don't get me wrong, $30 is still G R E A T for carhartt but $15 is such a steal, especially when i was already forming an emotional bond with the paint stains & how well the fit of the pants hugged my curves.
thrifting isn't just about the cute clothes & discounted prices. it's about the experience!!! the experience of rummaging through racks & racks of stuff to find truly unique &/or rare items. the funny stories that sometimes comes with finding & buying the pieces. investing your time in the search but never sacrificing too much money. YAYYY THRIFTING!!!
